Super Outer-Space Adventure Set
Don’t just tell the children about Rockets and Space and show them pictures in a
book. Get out your super Outer-Space Set and take them on an imaginary adventure,
they will learn a lot more if you make it a game. Ask the children to line up on
the Rocket, put on their moon boots, helmet, have a quick drink and snack, zip up
their space suit and lower the visor....ooh don’t forget to clunk in your seat belts!...and
then we are off...time for the countdown....10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..... BLAST
OFF.....time to fly (or Moon Walk!) to Mars ....the red planet...
The children will love this game, especially if you dim the lights put on some coloured
disco lights and some music...it’s a good way to learn colours and for the really
clever potential astronauts the actual planet names. It always amazes me at our parties
how many young children know and can recognise the planets of our solar system.
One of our nurseries who have bought an Outer-Space set used the sun to be a base
for a pretend bonfire for their fireworks theme, and have used it when learning about
hot & cold.
